The Rookery at Marco Island is Named Marriot Golf Property of the Year |
|
The Rookery’s recently renovated clubhouse expansion has been recognized as one of the top clubhouse remodeling projects in the country, serving as a finalist in Golf Inc.’s 2007 clubhouse renovations and remodeling awards. The renovation of the clubhouse included a member-only restaurant and lounge, member’s locker rooms, private boardroom and much more. Additionally, in adhering to Marriott Golf's commitment to environmental stewardship, The Rookery at Marco has also introduced major enhancements to its operations and maintenance facility, highlighted by an ESD wastewater recycling system. The property is also currently working to achieve certification through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, as part of Marriott Golf's global green initiative. The golf course itself is an example of golf and nature coupled together in perfect harmony. Recently redesigned by acclaimed golf course designer Robert Cupp, Jr., The Rookery at Marco blends a private resort course with native surroundings. Appropriately named The Rookery, meaning bird sanctuary, the course is nestled in shallow wetlands that attract many species of birds. At more than 7,100 yards in length, the playing experience includes generous fairways, oversized and receptive greens, the option to play from one of five teeing locations and immaculate turf condition. The golf course is also home to Faldo Golf Institute by Marriot, where golfers of all skill levels can enroll in instructional programs designed by six-time major champion Nick Faldo. The Rookery is situated just east of Marco Island and 15 minutes south of Naples. For more information, visit www.marriottgolf.com. {easycomments} |
