The South Florida PGA Charitable Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) public foundation that was created in 2005 as the charitable arm of the South Florida Section of the PGA of America. The mission of the foundation is to grow the game of golf, advance you the education through scholarship grants, and promote junior golf. The SFPGA Charitable Foundation is divided into four sectors, including Junior Golf Activities, Scholarship Grants, Growth of the Game Initiatives and Secondary Support of South Florida-Based Charities.

Currently, the SFPGA Junior Tour and the Westfield Section Championship are run under the Junior Tour sector; The Bobby Goodman Scholarship is a grant provided under the Scholarship Grant Sector, with three additional scholarships being added for 2006. Congratulations to this year’s winner of the Bobby Goodman Scholarship, Nicole Kurtzeborn, an extremely talented and well-rounded individual who headed off to the University of Florida this fall; Growth of the Game Initiatives include such events as the Sun-Sentinel Free Public Golf Clinic (held this past May); and Secondary Support of South Florida-Based Charities encompasses a group of non-profit organizations the South Florida Charitable Foundation funds to lend additional support to the community. This year the foundation provided funding for thirteen different charities.

The South Florida PGA Foundation acquires private funding through its 1,600 PGA members and affiliates, corporate contributions, private grants, and donations from community business leaders and the general public. If you are interested in making a donation to the South Florida PGA Charitable Foundation, please call the Section office at 954-752-9299.

The South Florida PGA heralds some very talented PGA Professionals, some of whom have hit the headlines in major national events this year. The SFPGA is proud of its Professionals and would like to recognize the following individuals for their impressive efforts and for representing the Section so well!
