In 1999, Mike Last founded Last Minute Tee Times (LMTT.com) with a clipboard, a phone and a fax machine, booking hundreds of “last minute” tee times for visiting golfers at handful of golf courses. This win-win service began in Atlanta and has grown to serve nearly 600 golf courses in 37 cities throughout North America (LastMinuteGolfer.com).

The company now serves the nation’s largest community of golfers -- more than 325,000 members (“LastMinuteGolfers”) who enjoy a free membership that provides tremendous convenience and added value with each round. Members are also automatically eligible for the nation’s #1 frequent golfer program, rewarding members for each dollar they spend playing golf. This simple and easy-to-use website continues to add new features designed specifically to enhance the experience for LastMinuteGolfer members.

The newest of these features is a “golfer friendly” social network which was formally announced at this week’s PGA Show in Orlando. With the new area of the site (my.lastminutegolfer.com) improving each week early in 2007, golfers are quickly embracing this new area of the site. Features specifically geared for golfers and for golf professionals allow members to locate a new golf partner, a golf lesson or even a date. Members also compete on the LastMinuteGolfer community “leaderboard”, comparing LastMinuteGolfer scores (a reflection of how much golf a member plays and how well he/she can write a course review), upload profile photos, golf tips, jokes and items specific to their golf game. In addition to making tee times and playing in LastMinuteGolfer “Golf for Fun” events in 37 cities, community members are now “networking” with each other and becoming a much tighter knit group which is now growing exponentially.

Golf teaching professionals can also utilize the LastMinuteGolfer social network to promote their lessons by describing their background, their areas of specialty (short game improvement, longer driving, etc.), favorite tips, and special “last minute” lesson offers for LastMinuteGolfers. It will be possible to book lessons directly on the site later this year.

LastMinuteGolfer founder Mike Last comments, "With hundreds of thousands of golfers visiting our site each month, adding an easy (and free) way for club professionals to promote themselves and help them sell more lessons seemed like a natural extension of our site to leverage this tremendous exposure and help pros at our member clubs."

LastMinuteGolfer will continue to roll out new community features throughout the first half of 2007 and welcomes feedback from members during the rollout. "At the forefront of our company is to continue to seek innovative ways to provide more value to our members and to continue to help grow the game," adds Last.

“Given the immediate response from our members, it’s very obvious that our social network for golfers has been very wellreceived thus far.”
