Kevin Kuehl Named South Florida PGA Assistant of the Year

PGA Professional Kevin Kuehl has been named the 2008 Assistant of the Year for the South Florida PGA. Kevin is recognized for his overall performance as an assistant through his willingness to accept responsibility, and through his promotion of the game and the overall image of the PGA of America.

A PGA member since 2006, Kevin’s involvement within the Association, South Florida PGA Section and the Southwest Chapter has continued to grow since he joined the Foxfire Country Club (Naples) staff full time in 2003. He is currently the first assistant at Foxfire, where he is responsible for the 27-hole facilities’ tournament operations, as well as assisting with the daily golf operations. He also conducts 40-50 golf clinics throughout the year, coordinates weekly league play, and supervises and trains the seasonal staff, all of which ultimately enable him to create and sustain a very professional and enjoyable atmosphere for Foxfire’s members and guests.

When asked where his passion for golf and the PGA comes from, Kevin responded, “I love my job because it offers something different everyday. I like teaching and I enjoy watching people improve and work toward their goals. I also enjoy that I’ve been able to make some great personal relationships and take part in the camaraderie among the membership. It is a great business and I enjoy my work tremendously.”

“My goal is to continually grow and someday become a head PGA professional. I try to challenge myself and try to find new opportunities to better my facility. I want to continue to help the Southwest Chapter and to someday help at the section level as well – it is very important to me to be involved.”

Kevin was pleasantly surprised with the news of being named the South Florida PGA Section Assistant of the Year. “I am so honored to be recognized for the work that I do. You don’t go to work everyday to win awards, so knowing that I am receiving this award means that my work precedes me, and that is nice to know.”

This is Kevin’s first South Florida PGA Section Award. He was previously named the Southwest Chapter’s 2007 Jeremy New Assistant of the Year. Kevin will receive his 2008 Assistant of the Year award at the SFPGA Annual Meeting of the Membership on Tuesday, August 26th, at the Breakers Rees Jones Course in West Palm Beach.
